In 8BIT METAL you're the lead guitarist on stage. Notes flow down four coloured lanes, and you play the riffs by pressing the right button the moment each one reaches the ring at the bottom. Every note you hit rings out of the speakers; every note you miss stays silent and the crowd cools off.
The setlist opens with a gentle first riff, then the songs slowly speed up: Iron Heart, Pixel Fire, Night Rider, Dragon Peak and Chaos Machine. Once you've played them all, the last songs come round again even faster. Behind you there's a roaring crowd, stage lights and flames.

- The crowd meter on the left drops when you miss; if it runs out you're booed off and the game ends.
